Ensuring Safe and Clean Water for Schools: Potable Water for Schools Global Grant

By February 10, 2025No Comments

Access to clean and safe drinking water is vital for every community, especially for students and school personnel who spend most of their day in school. Recognizing this necessity, the Rotary Club of Marbel, in partnership with the Rotary Club of Cheonan West, has been steadfast in its efforts to provide potable water to local schools. Through the Potable Water for Schools Global Grant, our commitment to sustaining and maintaining these water systems has been unwavering.

Water Purifier Turnover and MOA Signing

Earlier 2024, we marked another milestone in this initiative with the turnover of two water purifiers and the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Koronadal Central Elementary School (KCES) 1 as one of the recipients of Global Grant 2455618. This project was made possible through the collaboration of the Rotary Club of Cheonan West, District 3620 (South Korea), the Rotary Club of Alabang Lampara, other clubs from District 3830, and the Rotary Club of Marbel under District 3860.

This timely initiative came at a crucial period during the El Niño phenomenon, which has made access to potable water even more critical. With these water purifiers in place, students and school personnel now have a reliable and sustainable source of clean drinking water, safeguarding their health and well-being.

Water Purifier Inspection at KNCHS

To ensure the continued efficiency of the donated water purifiers, the Rotary Club of Marbel conducted a follow-up visit and maintenance check at Koronadal City National Comprehensive High School (KNCHS). This visit aimed to assess the condition of the water filtration units and ensure their accessibility for the entire school community.

Leading this effort were President Janine Pring, President-Elect Jun Fresco, Past Assistant Governor Gerry Cruz, and Past President Ian Fedoc, who worked closely with the school administration to coordinate the relocation of the purifiers to a more accessible and centralized location. Additionally, a thorough maintenance check was conducted to guarantee the continued functionality of these essential units.

Notably, these purifiers do not only benefit the students and staff but also serve the wider community, including local tricycle drivers and other nearby residents who rely on these clean water sources.

Water Fountain Check-ups and Maintenance

As part of our continuing commitment, our team recently conducted regular maintenance checks and filter replacements at Rotonda National High School, Koronadal National Comprehensive High School (Junior and Senior), and Koronadal Central Elementary School. These water fountains, generously donated under the Potable Water for Schools initiative, are crucial in ensuring safe drinking water for students and faculty.

During the inspection, we observed some units that required repair. Rest assured, solutions are already being worked on to restore them to full functionality. A huge appreciation goes to President-Elect Baltazar Fresco for providing free service and to Past President Francis Ian Fedoc for his relentless dedication to this important cause. Your commitment truly makes a difference!

A Continuing Commitment to Safe Water

Through the Potable Water for Schools initiative, the Rotary Club of Marbel reaffirms its dedication to sustainable solutions for clean water access. Our commitment goes beyond the installation of water purifiers—we ensure that these systems are well-maintained and continue to serve the community effectively.

To our partners, donors, and volunteers, we extend our heartfelt gratitude. Your support is instrumental in making clean water a reality for many. Together, we are transforming lives, one drop at a time.Stay updated on our projects and initiatives by following the Rotary Club of Marbel’s official page.
